Welcome

Welcome to my blog! I was really excited about my hip replacement surgery. I thought the best way to share with everyone how I am doing is to blog about it! Plus, I can look back and go...wow look where I was, and how far I came.

1 year gone by!

I am apparent too busy to blog during the school year...well, maybe not busy, but flat worn-out!  I have had my new hip for exactly 1 year!  I can't believe it!  I have had such an amazing year.  I can do much more than I even dreamed.   In fact, at the beginning of May I was feeling the best I have felt in a while.  Then, that very night I got a bad case of vertigo.  So bad, I was in the hospital for 2 days.  Now, almost 7 weeks later, I am still recovering.  Apparently,  I had a virus that attacked a nerve in my inner ear and made some crystals move.  So the crystals are back where they need to be, but my brain is still learning how to work with the damage done to my nerve.  Even, with the vertigo, I feel so much better than I did last year! I can't wait to see what else happens!

I wanted to look back at my kick the cane list and reminiscence a little over the year!
1.  Dance- I have danced in my house, classroom, a dance workout class, and at a bar.  I had a great time with great friends, Maria and Savannah, going out and getting to dance to some great songs!

2. Walking around businesses-  I have been to malls, IKEA, antique establishments, Southern Living Women's show, and Southern Living Christmas show.  Just so you know, I rarely buy anything.  I love to just look around and get ideas...and make a wish list.
3.  Walking on Nature's Trails of the sort:  I have been to the beach, Riverwalk, River Park, and even hiking trails to see waterfalls.  I also went to Brookgreen Gardens for a Fall festival with my family.

4. Riverbanks Zoo-  I haven't been yet...
5.  Riding a bike-  I have tried, but still working on some more flexibility.
6. Horseback Riding-  Haven't done this yet either...
7. Camping-  I went camping with my bestie, Jessica.  It was in October during a cold spell.  It was freezing, but it made the fire so much better.  We also hiked to waterfalls!  I felt great, strong and powerful!

8. Swimming in the ocean-  I still haven't swam, but I have waded.  I will check this one off, in a week or two!
9.  Travel to a new place and be a total tourist-  I have been to Disney's Animal Kingdom with my mom.  We had a total blast!  I was even dragging her around at the end of the night!  What a total flip, she is usually encouraging me.

10.  Go to a Knight's game- I went with a friend from work, and we had such a great time.  Watching a ball game and talking. Although the stairs back up to the car were still tough.  I can tell already the muscles around my left hip are stronger then they were then.

11.  Go to a festival of some sort-  I went to the Renaissance festival with my mom,  what an interesting experience.  I went to the Strawberry festival with a great friend, Cheryl.  We had a blast, and even went to a concert that evening.  The next day, I got vertigo...ugh!

12.  Wear cute shoes- done....lots of times!  Even when I went out dancing!
13.  Go Bowling- Did that for my birthday!  I need to do that again!
14.  Play Putt-Putt-  I played against my mom at a place in Myrtle Beach.  It was fun, even though she totally stomped me!  Although, the first 6 holes, I was winning....I have no idea what happened.

Added:
15.  Go to NYC-  I just returned a few weeks ago.  I had a ton of fun with my mom.  Again, I was dragging her up the 1,000th step from the subway.  We went to a Yankee game, NYC Library Tour and we walked around parks.  If I didn't have this vertigo, I would have been skipping around New York!
